Nervous system pattern

Identity is most coherent in conditions of physical and material stability. The self-system develops slowly and deliberately, and is genuinely threatened by demands for rapid change or premature definition. Being asked to produce, decide, or perform before the process is complete produces a specific physiological resistance.

Somatic signature

The body as a site of identity — sense of self is particularly located in physical experience, embodied pleasure, and the tangible results of sustained effort. Resistance to change has a genuine somatic quality: a heaviness and reluctance rather than a cognitive objection.

Wound pattern

Early experiences of material or relational instability that produced the adaptation of developing extraordinary attachment to what is stable, accumulated, and owned. The implicit learning: the self is secure when it has built something that cannot be easily taken.

Healing path

Developing tolerance for impermanence — the security that comes from the self's own internal resources rather than from accumulated external stability.
