The numbness is not emptiness. It is protection. The body that cannot feel is a body that learned that feeling was not safe, or was not allowed, or led to outcomes that were too costly. The numbing was once necessary. It served you. The question now is whether it is still serving you, or whether it has become the thing you are trying to heal from rather than the healing itself.
