Newsletter swap.
Audience trade with people doing real work.
What this is
A newsletter swap is a mutual recommendation or cross-feature between two writers whose audiences would genuinely benefit from each other. The format is simple. The standard is high. I am only interested in swaps where I would already be recommending your work, and you would already be recommending mine.
This is not promo. It is not transactional. It is not a numbers exchange. It is the kind of recommendation you would make even if there was nothing in it for you, formalized into a structure that lets two writers introduce their readers to each other on purpose instead of by accident.
The goal is reader-first. If a swap would not serve the person on the receiving end of both newsletters, it should not happen. That is the only filter that matters.
What I write about
nikitadatar.com is the home of my books and long-form work on psychology, Vedic wisdom, healing, identity, and the architecture of the inner life. I write about the mother wound, the father wound, attachment, shadow work, generational trauma, self-abandonment, and the practical, unglamorous work of choosing yourself as a daily structure rather than a single decision.
The voice is direct. No platitudes. No motivational scaffolding. Declarative sentences. The work is for people who are done being explained to and ready to confront the specific shape of what is in their way.
Who I am looking to swap with
- Writers in psychology, healing, women's wellness, attachment work, generational trauma, and feminine spirituality.
- Substacks roughly in the 500 to 25,000 subscriber range. Similar stage matters more than exact size.
- People whose work passes the 2am test. Would this help someone who is genuinely struggling at two in the morning, or would it perform helping while doing nothing.
- Writers who treat their readers as adults. No false intimacy. No urgency theater. No fake scarcity.
Not interested in:
- Anything in the manifestation-as-bypass space.
- Hustle-coded productivity content dressed up as healing.
- Anything that uses “high vibe” as a brand or as a sorting mechanism for people.
- Coaches selling certifications to other coaches.
- Crypto, dropshipping, or anything where the newsletter is downstream of an unrelated funnel.
What the swap looks like
A few options. Pick the one that fits.
- Mutual recommendation in welcome flows. Your new subscribers see a line about my work in your first or second welcome email. Mine see a line about yours. Evergreen, low friction, compounding.
- Cross-feature. I write a guest piece on a topic relevant to your audience. You write one for mine. Each piece points back to the other writer's home base. Better fit when both audiences have specific overlap.
- Pinned recommendation in Substack settings. The native Substack recommendation feature, both directions. Easiest to set up, persistent, surfaces on every post.
What you need to send me
- Your Substack URL.
- Current subscriber count, rough is fine.
- Two of your most-read pieces, so I can read your actual voice instead of your bio.
- The kind of swap you are imagining.
Where to send it
Email swap@nikitadatar.com with the four items above. I read every one. I respond to the ones where the work actually overlaps.
